ROLLING METHOD AND CONTROL DEVICE OF ROLLING MILL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly stop rolling operation on the basis of a load measured during metal-out in a rolling mill.SOLUTION: A rolling method includes the steps of: applying a roll force to a rolled material by a work roll in rolling; applying a bending force to the work roll; and stopping the operation of rolling when the rolling load detected as a result becomes lower than a predetermined value. The rolling method is performed by a control device including: a rolled material rear edge detection unit for detecting a rear edge of the rolled material moving in the rolling at the upstream side of the work roll; a rolling load measurement unit for measuring the load; and a control unit for controlling the rolling operation. The control unit receives detection results of the rolled material rear edge detection unit and results of measurement of the rolling load measurement unit, and performs stop operation for stopping the rolling when the rolling load obtained by the results of measurement of the rolling load measurement unit is a predetermined value or less, upon detecting the rear edge by the rolled material rear edge detection unit.
