In the production of rolled glass between rolling cylinders 5, 10 in which a cross-bar 6 is located in front of the top cylinder 10 to act as a dam by dipping into the molten glass 1, the cross-bar 6 is subdivided along its length into a plurality of independent parts. Each part is separately adjustable vertically and horizontally and means may be provided for heating the cross-bar. The cross-bar 6 may have a pointed front end 6a or a thicker edge which may be slotted throughout the length of the bar. The bar is described with reference to the apparatus of Specification 1,078,669.
