PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent material that can reduce influences on a surrounding member by generation of hydrogen sulfide, and to provide a light-emitting device using the material.SOLUTION: The fluorescent material comprises a fluorescent particle 11 comprising a sulfide-based fluorescent substance and a coating layer 12 containing zinc oxide (ZnO) disposed on the surface of the fluorescent particle 11. The zinc oxide easily reacts, at normal temperature and normal pressure, with hydrogen sulfide (HS) that is generated by the reaction of the fluorescent particle 11 with water or the like, and is converted into zinc sulfide (ZnS) and water (HO) which have little influences on optical characteristics. |
