Disclosed is a rotary dust removing apparatus having an adulteration residue automatic removing unit and an operation method thereof. The disclosed rotary dust removing apparatus having an adulteration residue automatic removing unit comprises: a frame installed on the wall of a waterway; guide rails installed at both sides of the frame; a screen installed between the guide rails; endless chains rotating along the guide rails; a rake installed at the endless chains and collecting adulterations contained in a water current; a driving motor driving the endless chains; and an apron preventing the falling of adulterations lifted by the rake into the waterway and protecting a driving shaft, and includes the adulteration residue automatic removing unit comprising: a base installed on the opposite side of the apron; a lifting hydraulic cylinder installed on the base; a movement hydraulic cylinder coupled to the rod of the lifting hydraulic cylinder; a scraping brush coupled to the end of the rod of the movement hydraulic cylinder and removing adulteration residues caught on the rake using a scraping method; and a control unit controlling to operate and stop the driving motor, the lifting hydraulic cylinder, and the movement hydraulic cylinder.
