Provided are an electrolyte solution for a lithium secondary battery which is improved in the storage characteristics at a high temperature compared with an electrolyte solution using a LiPF6 lithium salt, and a lithium secondary battery containing the electrolyte solution. The electrolyte solution comprises a nonaqueous organic solvent; and a lithium salt which comprises at least one lithium borate salt having a borate structure represented by the formula 1, the formula 2 or their combination, and LiPF6, wherein R1 to R4 which are identical or different one another represent a C1-C10 alkyl or alkyl ester group, a C1-C10 halogenated alkyl or halogenated alkyl ester group, a C6-C12 aromatic group or a C6-C12 halogenated aromatic group. Preferably the concentration of the lithium salt is 0.8-1.5 M, and the content of the lithium borate salt is 0.001-15 mol% based on the total amount of the lithium salt. |
