According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for operating an air conditioner comprises a step (a) for determining whether an air conditioner is on a cooling operation mode; a step (b) to measure external temperature and the highest and lowest pressure inside a pipe when the air conditioner is on the cooling operation mode; a step (c) to determine whether the external temperature and a pressure ratio are abnormal; and a step (d) to adjust the opening degree of an outdoor heat exchanger to external air according to the determination result in the step (c).
