发明名称 Flushable Sanitary Napkin.
摘要 1,151,035. Sanitary napkins. RIEGEL TEXTILE CORP. 13 March, 1967 [18 Oct., 1966], No. 11738/67. Heading A5R. In a flushable sanitary napkin comprising a pad of water-dispersible fibrous absorbent material adapted to absorb body fluids and enclosed within a flushable fluid-permeable wrapper of creped cellulosic fibrous sheet material comprising bonded hydrophilic flatribbon-like aerated regenerated cellulose fibres of the generally collapsed multi-cellular form which provide high dry strength, wet hang and dispersibility for the wrapper when the latter is agitated in a large excess of water, the wrapper defines longitudinally extending overlapping edges between which is disposed a reinforcing and securing strip comprising a generally inextensible thin flat ribbon-like strip coated with an adhesive for securing together the overlapping edges of the wrapper. The strip is adapted to restrict elongation of the creped wrapper, to provide additional strength to the wrapper, and to form and hold the body-contacting face of the napkin in a smooth longitudinal curved configuration conforming generally to the body contour of the wearer when placed in position thereon, whereby a large surface area of the napkin is in contact with the body of the wearer, whereby to provide optimum absorbence and comfort. As illustrated in Fig. 2, the napkin comprises an interior pad 11 formed from a cut fluffed fibrous wood pulp belt 14 upon which is superposed a cut layer 15 of creped tissue paper. The pad is folded with a longitudinally extending multiple reverse fold and includes a conventional moisture barrier 16 formed of suitable liquid-impervious material and disposed between the folds of the pad. Disposed around and enclosing the pad is a wrapper 20 defining longitudinally extending overlapping edges 22, between which is dispersed reinforcing and securing strip 30 coated with a suitable adhesive, for example hot melt glue. The strip, which extends along the entire longitudinal dimension of the napkin, may be formed from a woven textile material or from an extruded filament of plastics material, for example nylon or polyester material. As illustrated in Fig. 3, the strip is intended to be situated on the non-body-contacting face of the napkin and to have a rigidity such as to form and to hold the body-contacting face 35 of the napkin in a curved configuration which conforms to the body contour of the wearer. The strip may be coloured in any suitable manner to indicate to the wearer the side of the napkin which is to be placed away from the body.
