The present invention relates to a method and a device for warning sudden braking. The device induces safety driving of neighboring vehicles around a suddenly stopping vehicle by transmitting a sudden braking warning message to the neighboring vehicle through inter-vehicle communication. Moreover, a vehicle received sudden braking warning message prevents unnecessary alarms and provides information for driver′s safety driving by outputting the sudden braking warning message to a driver under certain conditions.
