1,013,561. Vacuum distillation apparatus; purification of water. ATLAS A/S. Dec. 5, 1961 [Dec. 5, 1960], No. 43422/61. Heading B1B. Liquid, e.g. water, is distilled in an apparatus comprising an evaporator 10 provided with tubes 13 surrounded by a heating medium so that, in operation, boiling liquid rises through the tubes from the lower chamber 14 to the upper chamber 15; unevaporated liquid entrained into the upper chamber flows into conduit 16 and is, wholly or in part, withdrawn through conduit 26 by ejector-pump 29 which also maintains the apparatus under vacuum by means of conduit 21 connecting the ejectorpump to condensor 17. Water is introduced into the system by pump 23, and part of it flows through conduit 22 into evaporator chamber 24, while the remainder actuates ejector-pump 29. Conduit 22 may be replaced by a conduit 32 extending from the outlet side of the ejector to chamber 14. Part of the water flowing into conduit 16 may be returned to chamber 14. The tubes 13 may be heated by the water from the cooling-jacket of an internal combustion engine. |
