An electronic component 8 including one or more legs 2, 9 for attachment to a circuit board, wherein at least one of said legs includes a spring-acting kink 10, arranged so as to offer resilience to relative displacement between the end of said leg and the body of said component. The kink may be substantially S-shaped, Z-shaped, U-shaped, wave-shaped or coil-shaped. The electronic component 8 may be a power resistor. Arrangements are disclosed within the application of components with three legs. The middle leg or pin 9 is bent to offset the end of the leg from the other two legs 2. Such power resistors are conventionally fixed to a heat sink to remove heat from the resistor; however this attachment creates an excessive lateral force in the central leg. To negate this force the central leg of the current application is bent through an obtuse angle. |
