Cellulose acetate is dyed, printed, etched or optically bleached in presence of a carrier which is an acyclic compound containing at least one group of formula: in which R and R' are hydrogen or methyl groups the acyclic compound being obtained by cyanoalkylation of a compound containing at least one -OH or -SH group or at least one activated -CH=, -CH 2 - or -CH 3 group. Preferably the acyclic compound is the product resulting from the condensation of one molecule of glycerol with two of acrylonitrile, or one mole of 2- mercapto-ethanol with one mole of acrylonitrile. 2 printing the acrylic compound is preferably used as 0.5-30% by weight of the paste and in dyeing 5-300 gms p. litre of dyebath liquids. |
