According to features of the present invention, a traffic information providing system for providing traffic information of a restricted traffic zone (A) designated on a road (20) based on the current position information of a vehicle (10) includes: a local control module (110) which is installed on the road (20) and transmits first traffic data including notice/warning data of the restricted traffic zone (A) and position coordinate data (P1) of the restricted traffic zone (A) through a first communication network (30); a data receiving unit (121) which is connected to the first communication network (30) and receives the first traffic data; a database (122) in which electronic map data is stored in advance and the received first traffic data is stored; a control unit (123) which extracts position coordinate data (P2) about the current position of the vehicle (10) and, if extracted position coordinate data (P2) of the vehicle (10) is within the position coordinate data (P1) of the restricted traffic zone (A) received by the data receiving unit (121), outputs a control signal to display the notice/warning data of the restricted traffic zone (A); and a vehicle terminal which includes a display unit (124) for displaying the notice/warning data to the outside according to the control signal.
