<p>Using methanol in an internal combustion engine with self-ignition, comprises heating methanol in a device for internal dehydration, conducting the heated methanol over a catalyst for converting methanol to dimethyl ether, and supplying dimethyl ether together with other reaction products, directly as a combustion fuel to combustion chamber. An independent claim is also included for a device for the internal dehydration of methanol in the internal combustion engine with self-ignition, which is arranged on the internal combustion engine or its supply- and discharge pipes which conduct media, comprising a catalyst chamber (K) having a heater, a methanol supply pipe, and a reaction product discharge pipe which is connected with the medium-conducting supply pipe e.g. fuel supply pipe of the internal combustion engine.</p> |
