A gravity piston core sampler is disclosed. The gravity piston core sampler according to the present invention comprises: a weight part having a weight support coupled by allowing one side of a supporting pipe to penetrate at the center, and a weight coupled to the supporting pipe with the weight support; a protective pipe having one end coupled to the weight support, and a sampling pipe with a piston to which a wire connected to a winch of a ship is coupled to one end while penetrating the supporting pipe and the weight support; a trigger device having a trigger housing coupled to the other end of the protective pipe, and trigger arms arranged on the piston to be hung on or released from the trigger housing; a catcher housing having a catcher coupled inside to enter a sediment sample into the sampling pipe because an inlet is opened by pressure caused by reaching to the sea bed or to close the inlet when the pressure is removed, and coupled to the trigger housing to be slid within a predetermined range so as to release the trigger arms while being moved toward the trigger housing by the pressure formed when the end is reached to the sea bed. The present invention can easily collect the marine sediment sample and can minimize the loss of the marine sediment sample because the trigger device is positioned inside the sampling pipe to be operated smoothly.
