The present invention relates to a mobile terminal having a content control function using a scroll bar and a control method for the same, which is capable of scrolling content according to a touch on a scroll bar when the content including the scroll bar is displayed on a screen and, if the scroll bar is dragged in a direction different from the scroll direction during the scrolling, performing a control operation related to content at a drag and drop position. Thus, a desired operation can be performed easily and conveniently without a separate selection operation of a user by using a scroll bar in various control operations for content or an image displayed on a screen as well as in scrolling a list of a text or an image (still image or video).
