[Also in Division A3] A horn member 18 for supporting footwear during repairing operations has a top supporting face of triangular area, two sides of which lie substantially tangent to a circular clinching element 42 for turning protruding fastener ends inserted in the footwear. The shoe is placed on the horn member, having its top face 40 inclined at 5 degrees towards its periphery, and is adjusted in position relative to a fastener inserting assembly 14 by a rack 32 and engaging pawl 34. A plate 20 is horizontally pivoted to surround a nose 16 of the assembly 14, through which nose 16 fasteners are inserted into the shoe upon upward reciprocation of the horn member 18. A side sole and insole may be attached by pressure-sensitive adhesive by pressing the shoe against a press plate 54, Fig. 5, which is spring- urged into position to cover the assembly 14, the nose 16 of which is accommodated in a groove 58 so that fasteners inadvertently issued are harmlessly discharged. |
