A tool for cutting jigsaw puzzles comprises a blade curved to provide oppositely facing concave portions one of which has a mouth wider than the other, one edge of the blade being sharpened, by chamfering one face of the blade, to form the cutting edge. The chamfered face is inside the wider mouth and outside the smaller. The tool is held in a holder 28, Fig. 2, of plastics material or metal. A sheet of card or other material is cut into strips 10, 11 by a succession of cuts 12, 13, 14 &c. connected at 15, the individual cuts corresponding to the shape of the tool which is turned slightly between one cut and another about points 15. The blade may have a pin at one or each end to assist in locating the blade for making connected cuts. The tool (20), Fig. 5 (not shown), is mounted in a press body (21) moulded of plastics material and is operated by a cam (26) with a handle (27). A stripper blade (23) or a rubber pad within the blade (20) ejects the tongue 25, Fig. 3. Several blades of varying dimensions may be used in cutting a single puzzle.</p> |
