<p>1,229,676. Drilling machines. ATLAS COPCO A.B. 14 May, 1968 [19 May, 1967], No. 22806/68. Heading B3C. [Also in Division F2] A drilling machine comprises a boom support (12) (Fig. 1, not shown), a hollow drill boom 10 mounted on the support for vertical and lateral movement, said boom having a hollow jib portion 10<SP>1</SP> and an adjusting head 14 rotatably journalled at one end of the jib portion and coaxial therewith. Pressure fluid-actuated turning means 30 within the jib portion includes a rotatable driving member 41 connected to a journal 19 of the adjusting head via coupling members 27, 28. Brackets 29, 39 connects the other end of the turning means with the other end of the jib portion. The turning means further includes a piston 34 having a rod 32, with helical splines and grooves which coacts with a similarly splined and grooved nut 33 of the driving member, and a rod 37 having straight splines and grooves which coact with similar splines and grooves on a backhead 36. Hydraulic fluid is admitted via one of the conduits 48<SP>1</SP>, 49<SP>1</SP> into the interior of member 35 and into the interior of member 46 or into the backhead respectively, fluid simultaneously being exhausted via the other of the conduits. Rectilinear movement of the piston is translated into rotational movement of the adjusting head 14 which supports a rock drill thereon.</p> |
