The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for estimating in-vehicle carbon dioxide concentration, and the objective thereof is to provide an apparatus and a method for estimating in-vehicle carbon dioxide concentration that allow for various complex factors which directly affect the carbon dioxide concentration as well as the number of in-vehicle passengers so as to raise the accuracy of the estimation of the in-vehicle carbon dioxide concentration. The apparatus for estimating in-vehicle carbon dioxide concentration according to the present invention comprises: information storage means for storing various types of information so as to estimate carbon dioxide concentration; driving information collection means for collecting information with respect to the operation or non-operation of a blower and input voltage information during the operation, vehicle speed information, information with respect to the opening of a door and a window, information with respect to the opening of a vent, and the like through a vehicle communication network; sound pressure measuring means for measuring the sound pressure of the passenger which is input through a microphone; passenger detecting means for detecting the number of in-vehicle passengers; and concentration estimating means for estimating the carbon dioxide concentration based on the information stored in the information storage means and by using the driving information collected by the driving information collection means, the passenger-specific sound pressure information measured by the sound pressure measuring means, and the number of passengers detected by the passenger detecting means.
