The present invention provides: an aromatic vinylbenzylether compound which has excellent dielectric properties (low dielectric permittivity·low dielectric tangent) after absorbing moisture at high temperatures and in high humidity, and supplies a cured product having high glass transition temperature and flame retardancy; and a curable composition. The aromatic vinylbenzylether compound is obtained by forming 2-9 vinylbenzyle from phenolic hydroxyl groups, by making polyhydric phenol with 3-9 phenolic hydroxyl groups in a molecule and the molecular weight of 250 or greater react with vinylbenzylehalide; and has a total halogen content of 600 ppm or less.
