The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for providing an intelligent service using input characters in a user device, which can recognizes a command corresponding to a character inputted through a keypad (or a keyboard) of the user device and processes (e.g., acquire) and feeds back related information corresponding to the recognized command to a user. The service providing method using the keypad according to the present invention comprises the steps of: displaying a text box and a keypad on an executed screen; inputting a start identifier according to a selection of a smart conversion button of the keypad; inputting a command after the identifier; inputting a termination identifier after the command; performing an intelligent service according to the command when the termination identifier is inputted; and outputting a result corresponding to the intelligent service to the text box.
