A video recording control device for a vehicle black box according to the present invention and a video recording method are applied to a vehicle navigation system and a vehicle black box, which is connected through wired communication or wireless communication. The video recording control device records camera images in a storage, and when the device acquires a special situation event by any one or more among an abnormal element of the luminance level of a camera image, an abnormal element of the signal level of an input audio, and an abnormal element of the frequency pattern of the input audio, the video recording control device increases and records any one or more among an abnormal element of the recorded image quality of the camera image, an abnormal element of resolution, and an abnormal element of the number of frames, in order to more effectively use limited storage capacity of the storage. Also, the video recording control device helps to identify causes of vehicle accidents, which occur in specific situations, such as shortly after a vehicle passes through a tunnel, when a vehicle enters a crowded road section, or when a skid mark is made, thereby improving monitoring and storage capacity of the vehicle black box. |
