An embodiment of the present invention relates to an internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine comprises: a housing having a first annular passage and a second annular passage provided therein, and having a hollow portion; a partition positioned inside the housing to partition the first and second passages, and having a communicator where the first and second passages communicate with each other; an air suction port provided on one side of the first passage so as to cause air and fuel to flow thereinto; a first piston moving along the first passage; a first opening and closing part configured to selectively partition the inside of the first passage so as to form a region with the first piston in order to compress the air and fuel flowing into from the air suction port; a second piston configured to precede the first piston and moving along the second passage; a second opening and closing part configured to selectively partition the inside of the second passage so as to form a region with the second piston in order to cause the compressed air and fuel supplied from the communicator to be exploded; an air exhaust port provided on one side of the second passage to exhaust the exploded gas; and a rotary shaft positioned in the hollow portion, and connected to the first and second pistons to transmit power. |
