The present invention provides an electronic apparatus and a control method thereof capable of selecting an object by a pointer with a set area. The apparatus comprises: an UI processing part for displaying at least one object and a pointer with the set area; and a controlling part for controlling movement of the pointer to select the object, determining how extent the area of the pointer is overlapped with the object, and determining whether to select the object or not according to the extent of the overlapping area of the pointer and the object. By this means, the present invention solves a technical problem for selecting the object by arranging the set area at the pointer, thereby providing various types of pointers which can be visually displayed.
