摘要 The disclosed embodiments relate to the design and manufacture of a battery cell. The battery cell includes a cathode containing a first cathode active material and a second cathode active material with a lower first coulombic efficiency and a higher energy density than the first cathode active material. The battery cell also includes an anode containing a silicon-based anode active material and a carbonaceous anode active material. Finally, the battery cell includes a pouch enclosing the cathode and the anode, wherein the pouch is flexible. Such blending of cathode and anode active materials may increase the energy density of the battery cell while mitigating the loss of capacity caused by the reaction of the silicon-based active material with lithium during initial charging and discharging of the battery cell.
