Methods of treating, preventing and ameliorating bacteria! infections with 1,2-benzisothiazolinone and isoindolinone derivatives are disclosed. Pharmaceutical compositions containing 1,2-benzisothiazolinone and isoindolinone derivatives are useful for treating bacteria! infections caused by drug resistant strains of bacteria, including but not limited to methicillin and vancomycin bacterial organisms.
