The present invention relates to an anticancer composition which includes (1) a biguanide compound or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; (2) 2-deoxy-D-glucose or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; and (3) 5-hydroxymethylfurfural or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and/or citric acid or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof as active ingredients, and to a food composition for preventing or improving cancer. The anticancer composition of the present invention can suppress survival of cancer cells as a synergistic combination of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, metformin, phenformin, 2-deoxy-D-glucose, and citric acid using less amount than each single formulation and selectively suppress cell cycle of the cancer cells without showing toxicity in normal cells in order to induce apoptosis thereof and to be used as an anticancer agent without side effects. |
