PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide desired microRNA useful for detecting the presence of nerve lesion in a mammal providing a sample.SOLUTION: There are provided one or more microRNA useful for detecting nerve lesion in a mammal selected from a group of (a) miR-384-5p and (b) miR-9or miR-9-3p, and an assay method for nerve lesion in a mammal comprising a first step of determining the amount of the above microRNA contained in a sample provided by the mammal, and a second step of estimating the presence or absence of nerve lesion in the mammal on the basis of the difference between the determined amount of the microRNA in the first step with the amount of the microRNA of the control.
