PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slide position detection device capable of allowing inclination of a slide and exhibiting high position detection accuracy, and a press machine.SOLUTION: A press machine P includes a slide position detection device A detecting the position of a slide 5 in relation to a frame 3. The slide position detection device A includes: a rack 10 provided in the slide 5; a pinion 20 provided in the frame 3 to be engaged with the rack 10; slide position arithmetic means 23 calculating the position of the slide 5 on the basis of a rotation amount of the pinion 20; guide means 31 provided in the frame 3 to movably support the rack 10; and rotation support means 43 provided between the slide 5 and the rack 10 to rotatably support the rack 10. Even if the slide 5 is inclined, the rack 10 is rotated in relation to the slide 5 by the rotation support means 43 so as to maintain the attitude of the rack 10 in relation to the pinion 20 while allowing inclination of the slide 5, thereby increasing position detection accuracy of the slide position detection device A. |
