PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image heating device such as a fixing device, that can suppress the occurrence of image heating failure such as fixing failure.SOLUTION: An image heating device has a heating member that heats a toner image on a recording material (P'), and a pressure member that contacts the heating member, and holds and conveys the recording material carrying the toner image with a nip part to heat the toner image. The image heating device further includes a heat source (100) that heats the heating member, a detection member (23) that detects a temperature of the heat source, and control means for controlling power supply so that the temperature of the heat source becomes a target temperature according to the output of the detection member. The control means controls the power supply so that a target temperature in a first temperature control when the recording material passes through the nip part at a position deviated from the position of the detection member in a width direction perpendicular to a recording material conveyance direction, becomes higher than a target temperature in a second temperature control when the recording material passes through the nip part at a position including the position of the detection member in a width direction. |
