A liquid crystal display apparatus (10) is provided with: an LED unit (30) having an LED (17) and an LED substrate (18); a liquid crystal panel (11); a light guide plate (16) having a light input surface (16b) disposed to face the LED (17); a chassis (14); and a frame (13), which is assembled to the chassis (14) to house the liquid crystal panel (11) and the light guide plate (16) between the chassis (14) and the frame, and which has a panel pressing section (13a) for pressing the liquid crystal panel (11) from the display surface (11a) side, and a side wall section (13b), which is continuous from the panel pressing section (13a), and which extends to the light input surface (16b) side of the light guide plate (16), said frame (13) having formed therein a through hole (40), which penetrates the side wall section (13b), and has the LED unit (30) fitted therein from the outer side such that the LED (17) is exposed from the inner side of the side wall section (13b), and which has at least a part of the LED unit (30) housed therein. |
