The rotor has a lamination packet comprising metal sheets exhibiting a cross-section of a circle with circle diameter equal to rotor diameter (1), where the rotor diameter exhibits difference larger than width (2). The circular cross-section of the metal sheets is not present in two diametric opposite circle segments (11-15). The circle segments exhibit segment height (3) equal to half difference. The metal sheets of the lamination packet are laminated such that the metal sheets are rotated relative to adjacent metal sheet at an angle (4). An independent claim is also included for an electric machine.
