PURPOSE: A composition containing synthetic polymer nanofiber mesh and mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) is provided to resolve the cytotoxicity problem of a conventional treatment using MTA only and to promote formation of dentin bridge and differentiation of dentinoblast. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for treating dental pulp contains synthetic polymer nanofiber mesh and MTA. The synthetic polymer nanofiber mesh has a diameter of 100-1100 nm for blocking toxic materials of MTA. The synthetic polymer nanofiber mesh is fabricated by dissolving one or more synthetic polymers in a solvent. The synthetic polymers are selected among polycaprolactone, poly(epsilon-caprolactone), polylactic acid, polyglycolic acid, and chitosan. |
