PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet water treatment apparatus with which reduction in the service life of a quartz sleeve is prevented and energy conservation, environmental load reduction, and efficiency improvement are achieved.SOLUTION: The ultraviolet water treatment apparatus has: a treatment tank including an inlet and an outlet; a plurality of quartz sleeves arranged in the treatment tank; and ultraviolet lamps housed in the respective quartz sleeves and generating ultraviolet rays having a bright line spectrum at a wavelength of 185 nm. When a weight content of an OH group of quartz glass constituting the quartz sleeve is represented by x [ppm] and a replacement period of the quartz sleeve is represented by Ts [h], a lamp load A of the ultraviolet lamp is set to satisfy following formula, A<2×2.34x/{B×(1+C)×Ts}, where A is the lamp load [W/m], B is ultraviolet transmittance (dimensionless) of a lamp luminous tube, and C is luminous flux maintenance (dimensionless) of the lamp just before lamp replacement. |
