PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weld material suitable for welding of two-phase stainless steel which is superior to pitting corrosion resistance and hardness, and can prevent &sgr; phase precipitation.SOLUTION: A weld material for two-phase stainless steel contains C: 0.06% or less, Si: 1.0% or less, Mn: 0.5-3.0%, P: 0.040% or less, S: 0.005% or less, Cu: 0.4-4.0%, Ni: 6.0-12.0%, Cr: 25.5-30.0%, Mo: 2.0-4.0%, W: 2.8-5.0%, N: 0.24-0.40%, Al: 0.04% or less, and the remainder being Fe and impurities in mass%, and has a strength index SEW[14Cr+5Mn+10Mo+60Cu+50(C+N)+20W] not less than 485 and a pitting corrosion resistance index PREW[Cr+3.3(Mo+0.5W)+16N] not less than 42.
