PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate having little dimensional changes in a high-temperature and high-humidity environment and having high adhesiveness between a transparent film such as a cellulose ester film and a polarizer, and a method for manufacturing the polarizing plate.SOLUTION: A polarizing plate comprises: a polarizer; a transparent film disposed on at least one surface of the polarizer; and a cured product layer of an active energy ray-curable adhesive disposed between the polarizer and the transparent film. The surface layer of the transparent film on which the cured product layer is disposed essentially comprises a cellulose ester satisfying expression (a-1):0≤A<2.6 and expression (b-1):0≤A+B<2.6, where A represents a degree of substitution of acetyl groups and B represents a degree of substitution of acyl groups having 3 or more carbon atoms.
