PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate holding method and a substrate holding jig that hold a flexible substrate on which a circuit is formed without allowing the substrate to be charged.SOLUTION: A substrate holding jig 100 holds a substrate 200 which is processed in a circuit forming system 300. The substrate holding jig 100 includes: a holding member 101 made of an insulating material and disposed in a contact state with the substrate 200; a second electrode 102 disposed at the side opposite to the side on which the substrate 200 is disposed with respect to the holding member 101; and a sheet-like flexible cover member 103 made of an insulating material and disposed so as to be bridged across a non-forming area A that is an area formed with no circuit on the substrate 200 and the holding member 101.
