A razor comprises a hollow handle 1, a blade rest 2 bearing a pivotable top cover 4, and locking means for retaining the rest 2 and cover 4 in engagement, the locking means including three tongue pieces 14, (15), 16, two of which 14, (15), are normally biased apart, Fig. 2 (not shown), but move together on downward movement of the locking means to engage a projection 6 of the top cover 4. On pressing the cover 4 into engagement, an inclined face 9 of the projection 6 pushes the upper end of the tongue piece 16 outwardly from engagement over the upper edge of a part 21 rigid with the handle 1, and a spring 11 draws the tongue pieces downwardly, causing the pieces 14, (15) to slide in resilient engagement against the edges of a wing 21a of the part 21. As curved upper ends of the tongue pieces 14, (15), Fig. 6, approach the wing 21a, the pieces move inwardly, engaged by tapering inner walls 26, 27 of the handle 1, their upper inwardly facing edges engaging over a bead 8 on the projection 6 to lock the cover 4. For disengagement, on pushing a button 12, the tongue pieces are raised against the action of the spring 11, the part 21 biasing the pieces 14, (15) apart as they slide upwards to release the bead 8, and the end of the tongue piece 16 resiliently re-engaging over the part 21. |
