The present invention relates a general-purpose community application device and a method thereof. The general-purpose community application device and the method thereof given in the implementation of the present invention includes a category selection unit which receives category selection data from a user; a site selection unit which outputs data about one or more sites included in the selected category and receives a site selection signal from the user; a data processing unit which receives content about the selected site from a server through a server communication unit; a UI processing unit which is linked to the data processing unit, applies the content about the selected site to a UI which is previously registered in the server, and provides the UI; a community configuration unit which receives the interested site registration data about the selected site from the user and, if the selected site is registered as an interested site, stores the configuration data about the registered interested site; and an application package management unit which is linked to the community configuration unit, receives data on an execution icon of the interested site from the server, and updates the initial execution icon data of an application.
