PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire various types of merchandise information by using one-dimensional barcode attached to merchandise.SOLUTION: One-dimensional barcode 6 attached to merchandise 5 is photographed by a camera 8 of a portable terminal 2 to read the barcode, and the barcode is transmitted to a server 3 via a communication network 4. The server 3 reads out information on the merchandise corresponding to the barcode from database 14 storing merchandise information, and transmits the information on the merchandise to the portable terminal 2 via the communication network 4; and the portable terminal 2 displays the received merchandise information on a touch panel 9.
