PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the degree to which a user feels that an object is apart from his or her own vehicle, when the user sees a composite image.SOLUTION: An image composition part for an image display system projects data of a plurality of photographic images onto a virtual projection surface TS corresponding to the periphery of an own vehicle 9, and generates a composite image indicating the periphery of the own vehicle 9, as seen from a virtual observing point, by use of data on the projection surface TS. The image composition part uses a special projection surface having thereon a curved surface area R3, which is a projecting curved face, as such a projection surface TS. The curved surface area R3 includes an area where its distance from the position of the own vehicle 9 is relatively small and its inclination is relatively large, and an area where its distance from the position of the own vehicle 9 is relatively large and its inclination is relatively small. Therefore, the image of an object present near the own vehicle 9 is projected onto an area where the inclination of the curved surface area R3 is large. Accordingly, when a user sees a composite image, the degree to which the user feels that the object is apart from the own vehicle can be reduced. |
