PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: cancer markers, in particular, metabolites that are differentially present in prostate cancer; and diagnostic, research and therapeutic applications that target cancer specific metabolites.SOLUTION: A method of detecting prostate cancer comprises: (a) detecting the presence or absence of a plurality of cancer specific metabolites in a sample obtained from a subject, where the cancer specific metabolites are one or more cancer specific metabolites selected from the group consisting of sarcosine, cysteine, glutamate and glycine in the sample obtained from the subject; and (b) detecting prostate cancer on the basis of the presence of the cancer specific metabolites. |
