A method for determining the energy required to destabilise the conformation of a protein. The invention concerns a method for determining the energy required to destabilise the conformation of a protein. Said method involves the following steps: providing, in a solution, a protein comprising an amino acid chain, said protein having a conformation corresponding to a given relative position of the amino acids of said chain; and introducing an oxidation reduction compound into said solution. Increasing quantities of energy are then supplied to said solution in order to be able to modify said given relative position of the amino acids of said chain, and in such a way as to destabilise the conformation of said protein, while said oxidation reduction compound interacts with said destabilised protein to cause the appearance of a signal when an electric field is applied to said solution; and the quantity of energy corresponding to the appearance of said signal is recorded so as to be able to determine the energy required to destabilise said conformation.
