MODULAR GASTROINTESTINAL PROSTHESES An implant for treating metabolic disorders such as diabetes and obesity is provided. The implant comprises an anchoring element (110) including an expandable structure having a first portion that has a disk-like shape and that is configured for engaging a first wall of the pylorus (106) at a first location adjacent the pyloric antrum (104) and a second portion that has a disk like shape and that is configured for engaging a second wall of the pylorus (106) at a second location adjacent the duodenal bulb (107). The anchoring element (110) includes a neck portion adapted to extend through and engage an inner surface of the pylorus (106). The implant further comprises a therapy implant (111) adapted for placement within the duodenum (112), the therapy implant (111) coupled to the anchoring element (110), such that the therapy implant (111) does not penetrate into the duodenal bulb (107). |
