PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium using a bark and a carbide, without using a chemical synthesized material, and capable of being produced with a simple process, a compact using the medium, and a producing method thereof.SOLUTION: Bark is fermented at a temperature range of 35 to 45°C for 7 to 8 months to produce organic carbon fiber through carbonization. The organic carbon fiber is cut into a length of 25 mm or shorter, immersed in water, and then packed in a formwork to be compacted for forming of a compact applicable to a medium. During the immersion in water, a component functioning as adhesive such as water soluble resin contained in the bark fiber is eluted to cover the surface of the bark fiber, so that strength of the compact can be ensured. Since a fiber derived from cellulose and a porous carbide are coexisted in the medium produced by using the method, the medium has high porosity and high permeability of water and air, and the growth promotion effect of carbide and the effect of inhibiting pathogenic propagation can be utilized. Consequently, the medium of the present invention is extremely useful as a medium. |
