[Problem] To provide a thermal print head capable of improving the quality of printing on print media. [Solution] The thermal print head is provided with a base material (11) in which a groove (113a) is formed, a heat storage section (2) formed in the groove (113a), a resistance layer (4) formed on the base material (11), and an electrode layer (3) that is formed on the base material (11) and has continuity with the resistance layer (4). When viewed in the base material (11) thickness direction (Z), the resistance layer (4) comprises heat-generating sections (41) that straddle two mutually separated regions of the electrode layer (3). When viewed in the thickness direction (Z), the heat-generating sections (41) are located at positions that overlap the groove (113a). The thermal conductivity of the material configuring the base material (11) is 100-300 W/(m.K).
