<p>An alkaline battery is formed by tightly closing the opening edge section of a battery case (1) by a sealing unit (9). The sealing unit consists of a negative electrode terminal plate (7), a negative electrode collector (6) electrically joined to the negative electrode terminal plate, and a gasket (5). The gasket includes: a boss section (5a) having a through-hole into which the body section (6a) of the negative electrode collector is pressed; an outer circumference section (5b) contacting the opening edge section of the battery case; and a coupling section for coupling the boss section and the outer circumference section. In the alkaline battery, the outer diameter (B) of the body section of the negative electrode collector is in the range of 1.0-1.6 mm, and the ratio (A/B) between the outer diameter (A) of the boss section and the outer diameter (B) of the body section of the negative electrode collector is at least 4.</p> |
