The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for recognizing vehicle information using a thermal imaging camera. The method for recognizing vehicle information using a thermal image camera comprises the following steps of: detecting, by a thermal imaging camera, the temperature of a vehicle in which the thermal imaging camera is installed; generating, by the thermal imaging camera, a thermal image according to the detected temperature; and recognizing driving information of the vehicle by comparing the thermal image with a predetermined driving pattern.
