PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a signal characteristic of an analog signal represented by pulses.SOLUTION: A distortion compensation device 50 performs distortion compensation on an analog signal represented by a 1-bit pulse train output from a &Dgr;&Sgr; modulator 25. As to the signal represented by the 1-bit pulse train, a pulse rise waveform has a first distortion component relative to an ideal pulse rise waveform, and a pulse fall waveform has a second distortion component relative to an ideal pulse fall waveform. The distortion compensation device 50 outputs a distortion compensation signal that can make the first distortion component and the second distortion component substantially axisymmetric about a time axis when added to the analog signal represented by the 1-bit pulse train.
