PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solar cell capable of improving quantum efficiency and achieving longer service life of a carrier.SOLUTION: A solar cell includes a semiconductor layer of a first conductivity type, a semiconductor layer of a second conductivity type, and a semiconductor region arranged between the semiconductor layer of the first conductivity type and the semiconductor layer of the second conductivity type. The semiconductor region includes a first semiconductor layer adjacent to the semiconductor layer of the first conductivity type and a quantum dot layer formed on the first semiconductor layer. The quantum dot layer includes a first barrier layer and a quantum dot formed on the first barrier layer and having an in-plane density of 3.0×10cmto 5×10cmand a height of 1.5 to 2.0 nm. |
